The smooth unfinished surface accepts paint, stain, vinyl, markers, decoupage, and wood burning. Each piece is laser cut to order in our Nebraska workshop by the team behind Laser Wood Shapes.

5 Craft Ideas for the Acorn Cutout

  • Painted wall decor — prime with gesso, paint your design, seal with poly. Great for rustic farmhouse or fitness themes.
  • Wreath accent — wire or hot-glue the acorn to a grapevine or foam wreath base as a focal point.
  • Door hanger — drill a small hole at the top, add twine or ribbon, paint and personalize.
  • Paint party blank — hand one to each guest with acrylics and brushes. No cutting required, just paint.
  • Personalized gift — add a name with vinyl or wood burning. Pair with a frame for a ready-to-gift piece.

Available Sizes

The Acorn wood cutout is available in four sizes, each measured at its longest dimension:

  • 4 inch — $6.37 — perfect for ornaments, gift tags, and small accents
  • 8 inch — $10.40 — great for door hangers and tabletop decor
  • 16 inch — $21.32 — ideal for wall art, wreaths, and paint parties

How to Finish Your Acorn Cutout

The unfinished surface accepts almost any craft medium. Sand lightly with 220-grit if desired, then apply your chosen finish:

  • Acrylic paint — prime first for best coverage.
  • Stain or wood dye — wipe on, let dry, seal with clear coat.
  • Adhesive vinyl — cut on a Cricut or Silhouette, apply direct to wood.
  • Wood burning — use a pyrography pen to add detail and texture.
  • Decoupage — apply paper, fabric, or napkins with Mod Podge.

Seal your finished piece with a clear matte or gloss spray for durability, especially for items that will be displayed outdoors.

Why Laser Cut Wood Blanks?

Every Acorn cutout is precision laser cut from 1/8-inch Baltic Birch plywood in our Nebraska workshop. Baltic Birch is a premium choice for craft blanks: it has a tight, consistent grain, minimal voids, and takes paint, stain, and vinyl exceptionally well. The laser gives each piece clean, sealed edges that require no sanding before painting. Each piece is cut to order — you always get a fresh cut, not warehouse stock.
